Kayaking, Canoeing and boating

Sand Lake is a beautiful lake that allows visitors to enjoy swimming, boating, kayaking and canoeing freely.

While kayakers and canoers can embark from the beach at Sand Lake Cottages & Inn, those with boats need to go to the boat launch at Sandhurst - less than a minute from your accomodations.

Visitors will find sand lake to be very safe and clean. This is a sandy lake with no zebra muscles or rocks.

For those with canoes and kayaks, it is worth to visit Emerald Island. For those who want longer, more thrilling trips, try traversing the Magnetawan River leading to Beaver Lake (Kearney) from Sand Lake. This takes several hours, there are small rapids that you must portage through.

For those interested in bigger lakes, they can feel free to visit Huntsville, which is a 35 minute drive away from Sand Lake Cottages & Inn. Huntsville is the heart of Muskoka and has a stunning historic down town.

Fishing

The lakes and creeks near Sand Lake Cottages & Inn are rich in fish and mainly house fish such as largemouth and smallmouth bass, along with northern pike and lake trout.

Please be sure to fish responsibly and follow fishing rules and regulations including the proper bait and tackle.
