Winter FUn
There is a variety of ways that you can enjoy the snow at Sand Lake Cottages & Inn and around the Kearney area.
XC Skiing and Trails
The area around Kearney features many trails for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. Algonquin Park is close to Sand Lake Cottages & Inn - with a large amount of courses to enjoy, you'll have access to the dreamy winter scenery. Arrowhead Park is also another great option as they offer a large skating trail.
Ice fishing
Sand Lake is a perfect lake for ice fishing Lake Trout is the dominant species in Sand Lake. Guests are welcome to walk out onto the ice, about 100 yards, and try their luck. We have one portable ice hut (no heat source) and a 6" manual auger that can be rented by interested guests. The ice hut is light enough that it can be pulled out onto the lake. We do not supply any fishing gear or equipment. ​
