What is a reading retreat?

Simply put, a reading retreat is a little getaway focusing on designated reading time. We have taken the simple idea of a reading retreat and added our own magic to the recipe (don't tell anyone, but the secret ingredient is connecting with others!). With themed decor, book related meals and snacks, open group dialog about books, authors, life and so much more - we have found a niche little pocket of interest amongst the reading community and continue to plan more and more retreats where people can come from all over to a safe space and escape every day life. 

how does it work at sand lake?

We do three night reading retreats here at Sand Lake (all dates planned well in advance) where the scheduled guests arrive on Friday night and stay through Sunday morning. We host in mainly our 4C Chalet (sometimes we add in our 4A Chalet for accommodations) and all retreat space is shared space. When you book, you are of the knowledge that first come first serve when it comes to individual rooms but some rooms are shared - you will always have your own bed! Think of it like a sleepaway camp. Currently our retreats are womxn only because they are shared space and we prioritize privacy, safety and comfort. We do offer private retreats for mixed gendered groups though.

Participation in whatever craft, event or outing is happening for that particular retreat.

We always ask about allergies and food restrictions, we want everyone to feel welcome and like they are safe to dine here with us.

We give a heads up on our stories when a new retreat post will be coming so it's important to follow along so you don't miss the opportunity to snag a spot.

Depending on the activity, the retreats vary in prices for your spot - These retreats start at $255.00. We ask for a $50.00 refundable deposit to secure your spot and it can be returned any time up until the purchase of the books and then if you choose to cancel after that your deposit goes towards your book and you can either come and collect or pay to have it shipped to you!
